Gotham Progress Report: 2025 Forward/Wing Ira Wilson - Southern Wake Academy
Ira Wilson is coming into his own at Southern Wake Academy and easily a prospect for DII and DIII programs in the Southeast region to target.
Ira Wilson is starting to put it all together at the right time for Southern Wake Academy. He’s a 6-foot-7 forward/wing in the 2025 class in the state of North Carolina currently ranked 46th on PrepHoopsNC and quickly becoming a prospect for DII and DIII programs in the Southeast region to target given his length and versatility.
He’s been a pivotal piece with his playmaking, rebounding and ability to attack the rim for the Southern Wake Academy Lions as they’re 10-0 in the NCHSAA 1A Central Tar Heel Conference. Wilson has been productive across the board for the Lions, producing 10.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest through 22 games in his senior year.
The 6-foot-7 prospect has shown he can do more than score the ball and when he does score, he does so with efficiency. He’s shooting 61 percent from the field, where he ranks first on the team and ranks second on the team in assists per game.

His presence on the defensive end has been developing as well. He ranks third in the conference in blocks per game according to MaxPreps and his three double-doubles rank him second in the conference as well.
Despite being a new face in the Southern Wake Academy rotation, Wilson has shown his ability to fit in the system as they continue to build their program. He’s improved tremendously alongside 2025s Se Surmons and Bryan Epperson as well as 2027 point guard prodigy Kobe Plata and it’s shown in their success this season.
The Lions are 20-4 this season and currently rank second in the NCHSAA 1A East rankings on MaxPreps heading into the final few weeks of the regular season. As an unsigned senior, Wilson certainly knows what’s at stake and has shown that winning games will be his proving point. Keep an eye on Wilson and the Southern Wake Academy Lions as they look to make noise in the coming NCHSAA State Playoffs.
