Gotham Prospects Progress Report: 2025 Forward Justice Mitchell
Gotham Prospect Justice Mitchell is playing strong in the frontcourt as Clayton High is 9-3 heading into January. The 6-foot-6 forward is worth noticing with the Comets in North Carolina's 2025 class.
6-foot-6 forward Justice Mitchell is starting to find his stride in his junior year with the Clayton High Comets. He’s one of the most improved players in the state’s 2025 class as he continues to show his continued development in the frontcourt alongside Liberty commit Andrew Grimes.
They’ve proven to be a formidable duo with their unselfish play and presence in the low post area. Mitchell has shown he can operate in a variety of ways, facing up on the perimeter as a shooting threat & by creating opportunities on the block to finish in the paint.
Mitchell stood out in a big way at this year’s 252/919 Winter Classic in a 73-60 victory over Northern Nash as he took home Game MVP honors. He finished with 24 points, six rebounds and an assist while showing off his ability to knock down shots and make things happen in the post. He’s shown he can be effective with his back to the basket and make opponents pay when they don’t apply pressure. He continues to find ways to finish around the rim and no matter the amount of traffic, he’s shown he can be fearless in the painted area.
He’s producing 18.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 blocks per contest through 12 games played as the Comets head into Neuse River Conference play. He’s recorded five double-doubles on the year and has been an increased presence around the rim on both ends of the floor. Clayton High is at the top of the conference standings currently at 4-0 following a tough road victory against Garner High. Mitchell had 13 points, seven rebounds, an assist and a block in the victory.
As he continues to showcase his abilities as a ballhandler, playmaker and stretches the floor with his shooting ability, look for him to start drawing more interest from college programs. He’s beginning to turn heads in the 919 area with his production and overall presence.
