Gotham Prospects Progress Report: 2025 Khalil Caple

6-foot-4 wing Khalil Caple is turning a corner in his junior year with Norfolk Collegiate as they're off to a 15-3 start and a top team in state of Virginia. Here's a look at his latest progress.

Khalil Caple is beginning to break out for the Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks in the state of Virginia. He’s a Gotham Prospect who’s shown he can flourish on the wing with his ability to knock down shots and create off the bounce. He’s even more lethal on the rebounding and defensive front, with the ability to turn defense into instant offense on the opposite end.

He’s put together an impressive stat line for Norfolk Collegiate as the midpoint of the season approaches. He’s averaging 13.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists while remaining a menace on the defensive end of the floor. He’s shooting 50 percent from the field and 30 percent from behind the arc this season for a team that’s lost three games all by single digits thus far in 2023-24.

He began the season with a 25-point outing on 10-of-18 (56 percent) shooting from the floor along with six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in a victory over Life Christian Academy. He followed that performance up with 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field with eight rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block. He put together his first double-double of the year with 13 points (5-of-6 FG) and 12 rebounds in the following days game against Northampton, another victory. He also had three assists, three steals and a block.

Caple has shown he can fill up the stat sheet in more ways than one with his ability to fly around for rebounds, distribute and defend at 6-foot-4. He nearly recorded a triple-double to start the New Year with 11 points, 10 rebounds and six rebounds in a victory over Smithfield on Jan. 2.

Norfolk Collegiate is 1-0 already with a victory over Norfolk Academy but with Catholic High and Steward School among others lurking, Caple will look to make some more noise and turn heads over the next few months. He is a big reason for the Mighty Oaks’ strong start to the season as they’re riding a three-game winning streak and 15-3 heading into the bulk of Tidewater Independent Conference play through the rest of January.

He isn’t the only Gotham Prospect that’s flourishing either, as Brennan Chatman and Rashaad Williams are putting together impressive seasons as well. Stay tuned for more on them as college programs are always in need of talented prospects!
