Malik Johnson - 6'4 Guard - Hampton High School
Malik Johnson is a 2024 prospect out of Virginia who's climbing up the radar on the recruiting trail heading into his final season at Hampton High.
Malik Johnson is an unsigned senior name to get to know out of the state of Virginia at Hampton High heading into the 2023-24 season. He’s a prospect capable of operating either guard with his length at 6-foot-4. He’s a playmaking presence joining a new squad heading into his senior year. He continues to add to his frame since earning first offer this past June from Elizabeth City State.
He returns to the Crabbers looking to make a statement in this year’s VHSL State Playoffs after the team fell in the second round this past season. Johnson’s addition should certainly boost their backcourt given his abilities on both ends of the floor.
He’s a wiry guard who can finish around the rim in traffic and is unselfish enough to find others for points when the defense closes in. He does well to use his length and frame to create space in the painted area. He’s a smooth ballhandler who knows when mismatches are apparent and can knock down shots on the perimeter and midrange with ease.
On the defensive end, he’s shown he can make his presence felt with his length and create turnovers. He turns offense into defense quickly and isn’t afraid to make an impact with his aggression off the bounce. He’s an underrated shot blocker and isn’t afraid to take charges
