Shawn Long - 6'5 Shooting Guard - Hopewell High School

Meet the newest addition to the Gotham Prospects Database: Shawn Long, out of Hopewell High School in Virginia!

Welcome Hopewell High standout Shawn Long to the Gotham Prospects Database! He's a 6-foot-5 lengthy shooting guard prospect who's shown he can impact the game in a variety of ways with his shooting, rebounding and ability to defend the basketball. He's already began to draw a ton of interest from DI and DII programs as his senior year comes to a close with the Hopewell Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils are 10-6 currently and coming off a 1-1 week that saw Long produce 27 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in a victory over Meadowbrook High on Tuesday. They dropped one on the road to Matoaca on Friday night, but consider it motivation for Long, who continues to pick up where he left off for a squad fell just short in last year’s state title game.

Long is having quite the breakout season as a top unsigned senior on the VHSL stage. While he possesses tremendous ability shooting the basketball, he’s also an active presence on the rebounding and defensive front on the hardwood at the position. Long currently leads the Hopewell Blue Devils in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals as he's putting up 20.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per contest heading into the month of February.

Chowan, Fredonia State, Eastern Washington, and New Hampshire are a few of the college programs who have extended offers his way already. He was a first-team All Region selection this past season and part of their State Tournament returners from last year’s as he continues to excel on the hardwood. He’ll look to lead his squad to another deep run in the state playoffs once again as the final games of the regular season approach.

During the grassroots season, he suits up with Virginia Havoc on the UA Rise circuit. They're a program who have seen a good number of players excel at the next level whether it be Division I, II or III.
