Ulysses Young - 6'0 Point Guard - Oscar Smith High

A shifty point guard out of Oscar Smith High in the 2024 class, Ulysses Young continues to draw intrigue from DII and DIII programs out of the state of Virginia.

The 757 area in the state of Virginia continues to be a hotbed for talent as 6-foot combo guard Ulysses Young is another prospect to keep an eye on in the 2024 class. He was a 2nd Team 6A All-Region selection this past season with Oscar Smith High School as they went 27-2 on the year and finished 12-1 in the Southeastern Region before falling to the Patriot Pioneers in a tough defensive battle in the VHSL Class 6 State Tournament Semifinals.

He’s an intriguing lefty lead guard given his ability to run the show and control the pace with the ball in his hands. He isn’t the biggest size-wise but he makes up for it with his knack for pushing the pace and elite passing ability. He’s a creative force who’s unselfish in space and does well to keep his teammates involved in the game.

Young can operate without the ball in his hands and find his own shot on the perimeter and off the bounce as a threat as well. His court vision is immaculate as his ability to produce winning results as evidenced by this past season. Forcing the ball out of his hands is a nightmare just as much as it is trying to defend him in space. Look for him to have a strong senior campaign as he looks to lead Oscar Smith to another run in the VHSL State Playoffs.
