Welcome Marcell Washington to Gotham Prospects!
2028 two-way point guard Marcell Washington has a bright future ahead of him at Southern Wake Academy!
Welcome the newest member to the Gotham Prospects fold, Marcell Washington! Washington is a 5-foot-11 point guard in the 2028 class in the state of North Carolina who currently attends Southern Wake Academy. He’s a prospect who’s already made an impact on the PrepHoops North Carolina stage at this year’s Carolinas Freshman Showcase. He showed his grit during the 3-on-3 portion of the day before having to sit out with an injury during the 5-on-5 games.
He’s a floor general who knows how to set quite the tone already defensively with his on-ball defense. He won’t hesitate to guard his defender closely, applying pressure and making things difficult while utilizing his length and quickness. He knows how to force turnovers and turn them into quick points on the offensive end.
Washington has a bright future in the 2028 class for a number of reasons. One big reason is his playmaking ability. He’s an unselfish lead guard who won’t hesitate to get others involved and to find easy buckets for others within the flow of the offense.
He’s an unselfish prospect who knows how to make the “easy play” already in the open court with his IQ. He’ll be relied upon to run things for his squad at the point guard spot in more ways than one this season.
As he improves on his ability to attack with his shooting ability, the sky is really the limit for Washington. He’ll spend this season on the junior varsity squad with Southern Wake Academy where he’ll be closely evaluated.
On the grassroots scene, Washington plays for MAF Elite as well. They’re an independent grassroots squad who plays regionally throughout the state of North Carolina with players like TJay Brunson (Cleveland) and Nick Brooks (Southeast Raleigh) who are also players who’ve performed on the PrepHoops stage.
Scoop’s World will get a chance to see Washington over the next few days and evaluate him some more, stay tuned for updates!
